What is physical education?


Physical education is defined as the foundation of an all-encompassing institution or school physical activity program.  It is an academic subject which is characterized by a strategic, successive curriculum or course of study that is built on the national standards for physical education. 

Physical education is believed to provide intellectual content and training designed to develop motor skills, awareness, and behaviors for physical activity and physical fitness. Supporting institutions or schools to establish physical education everyday can provide students with the ability and assurance to be physically active for a period.

Many benefits are associated of physical education in schools/institutions. They include:

  • Growth in level of physical activity
  • Better performance in grades and standardized test scores.
  • Good task management in the classroom.

It is believed that increased time spent in physical education does not negatively affect students’ academic achievement
